Homo Sapiens

Homo Sapiens is the modern human, 'homo' means human while 'sapien' means wise or to be wise. We are the fruit of Millions of years of evolution.

Homo Neanderthalensis

Homo Neanderthals lived a periode along side homo sapiens around 33,000 and 32,000 years ago before the species ended. They had larger brains than us. They were tall and robust with large brows. They were also mainly carnivore and used simple stone tools.

Homo Heidelbergensis

Homo Heidelbergensis is the earliest human ancestry known and lived from 500,000 to 300,000 years ago. Homo Heidelbergensis led to two different species, Homo Sapiens and Homo Neanderthals. Discovered bones indicate that some groups of Heidelbergensis were usually over 7 feet tall.

Homo Erectus

Homo Erectus lived in Africa around 1.8 million years ago. Homo Erectus means ''Upright man'', or ''set upright''. It is said that Homo Erectus could be a subspecies to Homo ergaster. A theory is that Homo Erectus migrated from Asia to Africa while the other theory is that Homo Erectus migrated from africa to colonize much of the old world. Homo erectus is thought to be the predecessor of Homo heidelbergensis.

Homo Habilis

Homo habilis meaning ''handy-man'' lived around 2.33 to 1.4 million years ago in Africa. Homo Habilis holds the name ''Handy man'' because he was the first hominid to create stone tools.Homo Habilis is the oldest Hominid species with his ape-like traits and long arms. His brain was a little bit less than half of a modern humans brain size.

Australopithecine

australopithecines are thought to evlove into Homo Habilis who ended up becoming a modern human. Austrolopithecus appeared around 4 million years ago in Africa. Australopithecus means southern ape. They were called like this because they were so different from us, they were labeled ape and not human.
