Walking upright

 Why did humans walk upright?

Hominids became bipedal to help travel and survive through there changing habitats. Hominids first lived in Africa which, in there time, was a lush rain forest were they could climb trees. Over time, the forests died out to leave arid plains and dead grass.

 What caused bipedalism?

Bipedalism is a more efficient way of moving for long distances because it does not consume as much energy as walking on all four. Bipedalism was caused by the changing habitat that early humans were in (Africa). By analysing the layers of rock in Africa, scientists can determine that africa's climat and surface changed frequently which forced early humans to adapt to there environement, therefore, to become bipedal.

Hominids (Humanoids) started walking upright around 6 million years ago.

What is the advantage of being bipedal?

bipedalism is a better way to move than on all fours because it doesn't waste as much energy, therefor we can walk for longer periodes of time without losing as much energy.

Early humans were mainly canivore, but how did humans get meat if they could not run faster than other species? The only explanation is that they jogged after there prey till it ran out of breath and had to stop, there the hominids attacked. Bipedalism uses less energy than any other way to travel so the early humans used it as a tool. Hair on the body was lost to let sweat cool down the bodys of early humans. this helped them run for longer in hot climats.
